Emiliano Martínez leaving Aston Villa would be more than shocking. The Argentine has come to mean so much to the club. Eventually, everyone leaves, however, and the age of players more or less sticking with one side is passed.

That day should not be now or even this summer for Martínez. It is known how much fluctuation there can be in the business aspect of things in this sport. While it seems unlikely that the keeper will want to move on and that Villa would be completely unwilling to part ways, the right offer can lead to minds changing very quickly.

In the event that such a deal is proposed and then accepted, Martínez would leave a massive void to fill at the club. There have been several players that Villa are reportedly monitoring. Regardless of what happens, it is always a good idea to have a contingency plan ready in the event of all scenarios.

As reported by Sky Sports' Sacha Tavolieri, AVFC is keeping tabs and would be one of the primary clubs in line to sign Lille's Lucas Chevalier if the Argentina international leaves B6.

Make no mistake, Martínez is the best keeper in the world. If Villa had to switch to someone else, however, the 23-year-old would be an excellent replacement option.

Athletic and tall, he shows a lot of early signs of promise. Tavolieri plays well, at times being a sort of sweeper-keeper, but when he does so, it isn't reckless. He additionally shows tremendous footwork and composure on the ball.

Then in terms of GK skills, he has the needed reflexes, of course. While making saves, he does a good job of keeping the ball out of the back of his net while ensuring that the ball stays out of harm's way. This is something that truly cannot be said about all who play the position.

Many will make the initial save, only to parry it right back to the poaching forward. With Tavolieri, it's clear that he makes a concerted effort to prevent that from happening while he is standing in between the posts.

Best of unideal Aston Villa scenario

Having someone who is young, fundamentally sound, and able to initiate the attack is what every club that doesn't already have a No. 1 strives to find and obtain for their side.

Again, Martínez is a Villan. If, and only if, he leaves for his own reasons, while it would be difficult and emotional, AVFC then handing the reins over to Tavolieri would be a good ensuing step to take at that position.
