Looking back at his final concert at Villa Park, Ozzy Osbourne gave the people of Birmingham one final message of appreciation for the years of support. The music icon passed away on Tuesday, July 22, at the age of 76.
It is incredible that he, his people, and Aston Villa were able to hold one last event, a sight that will live on in the memory of those who had followed him and Black Sabbath for a long time to come.
It is not often that one gets to give a proper farewell. While sitting in his throne on the stage at Villa Park, Osbourne gave it his all, completing a musical journey that he had dedicated himself to which brought so much pleasure and joy over the years.
Now, entering into the 2025-2026 campaign, hearing 'Crazy Train' will mean that much more and have that much greater of an impact at Villa Park as it blasts through the sound system. There understandably likely will and should be more visible impact when listening to that song now during an Aston Villa match.
For the club and supporters, Osbourne symbolized someone who was unafraid to push boundaries and be an instigator in the industry. The result: countless hours of music that all will continue to enjoy.
Watching the last show, seeing the emotion of the crowd and how happy Osbourne was, despite all of the health issues that he was going through, it is highly fitting that the 'Prince of Darkness' had a chance to give a show in the home of his beloved claret and blue club. His performance capped what was a truly legendary career.
Rest in peace, Ozzy.
