It is incredibly frustrating to watch Aston Villa forced to operate within a limited capacity compared to other clubs. It goes without saying that those in the 'big six' are at a complete advantage, able to operate in ways that other sides wish they could also be able to enjoy.
With this, though, comes something that other clubs do not have. While speaking with Birmingham Live's John Townley, John McGinn shared the feeling within the squad. The midfielder mentioned how the known struggle and financial disadvantage that Villa faces makes it so that the players in the dressing room are joined in their desire to overcome the rules that are set up against them.
This extra layer of motivation is something that is unique to clubs like Villa. Especially when then taking into account how the club has publicly made it a mission to dispel the notion of the 'big six,' it becomes almost something of a rallying cry.
Needed conversation regarding Aston Villa
To see the players discuss the club operation side of things and how they use it to gain a different sense of purpose is something that should universally unify all Villa supporters. Going up against the established norm and seeking to bring an end to the perceived way in which fans digest their viewing and observations is, of course, a difficult undertaking. This is something, though, that is a worthy endeavor.
Villa are forced to have their hands tied behind their backs. Still, they continue to find success and are able to show that just because they are not a 'big six' member, it does not mean that they cannot be in the running with those at the top of the Premier League table. In fact, when Villa does ultimately reach the final triumph, it will mean that much more when looking at what the club was forced to overcome.
