For a while now, it was thought that Aston Villa would not be able to have Marco Asensio on the roster again due to a move to Fenerbahçe. His fate appeared to be sealed to the Süper Lig side.
With an agreement already in place, Asensio appeared to have found a new home away from PSG. There remains, however, an obstacle of the Spaniard's wages. Technically speaking, Asensio is still available for any club to either buy him via an outright transfer or to add him on a loan deal.
This gives Villa the option to look into still securing Asensio for the upcoming campaign. Based on the report from the Birmingham Mail, the possibility that is currently being explored is that of another loan deal. The club is not exactly in a position to spend too much. While a loan arrangement would be more feasible in terms of the initial cost, Asensio's wages would still be a significant aspect that the club needs to discuss and find a path forward to navigate around, particularly with SCR.
Fit on the pitch with Aston Villa
Setting the financials aside, there is a lot to look forward to when thinking of the prospect of reintroducing the midfielder to B6. During his spell toward the second half of the season, Asensio impressed. What's more, he has shown the adaptability to be able to fit into what was at the time a 'starting 22,' not needing to necessarily be a consistent starter.
When looking at his ability and attitude, in a vacuum, this move would make all the sense in the world for Villa.
Many Villa supporters continue to hope for a major signing. Ironically enough, the announcement of Asensio through another loan would likely be just as welcomed as if Villa had secured the Spaniard for his long-term future.
