Full support needs to be given to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery

It has not exactly been the start to the campaign that Aston Villa were hoping for. Being able to only secure a point from the opening fixtures was not something that too many predicted heading into the 2025-2026 season.

Even for those, though, of other fan bases who are laughing at Villa, there has to be a concession made that the circumstances during the draw against Newcastle and loss to Brentford were rather unusual.

Although there may not ever be anything truly 'normal' in the Premier League, Villa have certainly been at the more extreme end of oddities happening against them so far. That is, of course, part of what frustrates Villa supporters. Seemingly, particularly in the big matches, any time a result is needed, the worst elements of Murphy's Law tend to show up.

What needs to also be acknowledged, however, is that the club has the single most qualified man to steer the side in the right direction in Unai Emery. The Spanish boss is one of the most tenacious and determined people in the world. Others would have likely sought a different team to manage by now when considering all of the obstacles that stand in the way of Villa. Not Emery.

Right man in charge at Aston Villa

If there is anyone who will be able to accurately assess where the trouble areas are and how to sort them, it is the Spaniard.

Shouts from some to have Emery removed are entirely inappropriate. What is more, the way in which this squad has been built over the years will ultimately result in an improved product, and the advantages of having played together for several years will show up. Villa has been molded through the vision of Emery. The orchestrator will guide Villa to where the club needs to be this campaign.
