With the preseason wrapping up for Aston Villa, the next ten months will bring a return to the action. The final week before the beginning of the Premier League campaign has come with a lot to discuss regarding the club. This has been particularly true when looking at some of the financial aspects of Villa.

It has to be said, though, Villa have largely done well to navigate the difficult terrain of what can be the summer period. Now, the talk will start to have some actual competitive matches to go along with the commentary. Everyone has an opinion and their own expectations for Villa heading into the season.

For the most part, it is believed that Villa will be able to contend for a Champions League spot through their EPL play. At the same time, the supporters will want to see Villa lift a trophy from one of the other competitions. On that front, many view Europa League as the most likely and best possible avenue to obtain silverware.

When looking at how Unai Emery discusses juggling all aspects and how he views the responsibilities of the club, it can be once again expected that Villa will look to remain competitive across all fronts once again.

Well-rounded approach from Aston Villa boss

This may seem like something that should be assumed. It is known, however, that this is not at all the case. Managers will often choose which matches to give a full effort and which competitions to focus on.

Emery has made it clear that the Premier League is the priority. After all, it is not possible for everything to receive an equal amount of importance. Something has to be at the forefront in terms of preparations. That being said, Emery is not one to take any matches off. He will look to make a push in Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and the Carabao Cup.
