There is not really too much room for debate. The England match against Andorra was a difficult watch. Yes, the visitors on the day stay compact and organized, but the overall performance was largely uninspiring.
National teams will often face sides that are willing to stay in a low block, hoping to make something happen on the counter or off a set piece. So far under Thomas Tuchel, despite the players at the German's disposal, the attack has largely been lacking.
It realistically was not until the introductions of Aston Villa players Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa that those at Villa Park had a burst of energy for the day to come more fully alive.
Granted, England did manage to put two past Andorra before the mentioned substitutions happened. Still, the way in which the attack looked throughout a lot of the fixture left a lot to be desired.
Someone who had another good performance for the Three Lions and who would likely wish to claim full credit as a goal scorer is Noni Madueke. The Arsenal man created the most out of a difficult situation and did well to pose questions for the Andorran defenders.
Needed inclusion of Aston Villa players
Even so, perhaps it was the introduction of fresh bodies. Objectively speaking, Rogers and Morgan Gibbs-White provided a little more life in the attack that was desperately needed for the England side for a lot of the match.
Despite the criticism of the lack of entertaining play, Tuchel's side did manage to secure another three points, and they are one step closer to clinching a spot in the 2026 World Cup. With a fixture against Serbia in line next for the Three Lions, Villa fans will have every right to desire to see more of Rogers and for Ollie Watkins to be given a chance to provide more of a threat in the England attack.
