The continued development of the Emiliano Martínez relationship with Aston Villa continues to draw attention. His late exclusion against Feyenoord raised some eyebrows.

Although some of the fanbase speculate as to the nature of Martínez's potential loyalty to the club. The Argentina international did have pictures of his calf circulating online, showing the nature of what caused him to miss the latest Premier League match.

To his credit, however, Martínez did well in tuning out the noise and put on a strong performance against Burnley.

Although Villa were not able to preserve the clean sheet, the keeper came up big time on a number of occasions. His shot-stopping went a long way to ultimately contributing to Villa picking up the critical three points.

If Martínez is able to continue to string together strong performances, then he would be able to win over Villa supporters slowly but surely. Most would be more than willing to move on from the recent summer activities.

So long as Martínez plays well and gives it his all while at the club, the Villa supporters will be happy to support 'Dibu' until his likely departure, which is slated to take place in January or in the summer of 2026.

Future for Aston Villa

Until then, many of his actions will be scrutinized at a level that would never have even been considered even a few months ago.

Marco Bizot does look more than ready to take over when the day comes that Martínez leaves for his next destination. In the meantime, how the Villa keeper situation is handled by Unai Emery will be highlighted on a weekly basis.
