Despite financial restrictions, Aston Villa transfer window was mostly a success

If it were not for the last-minute push that nearly saw Emiliano Martínez leave Aston Villa for Manchester United, feelings would clearly be drastically different surrounding how Villa fans are assessing things heading into the international break.

Yes, there would still be a high level of concern regarding Villa having only managed to secure a point after three Premier League matches. This reality, however, has been largely overshadowed following the saga that nearly saw 'Dibu' leave B6.

Overall, though, Villa have done well to bolster the squad. It has to be remembered that the club is under tight confinement and restrictions. It would be entirely unreasonable to expect Villa to be able to have a transfer window that is even remotely similar to that of United or Chelsea. The rules and manner in which the governing bodies enforce rules are set up to squash any and all non-big six sides from being able to truly gain any form of momentum.

With that in mind, Villa did well despite everything to secure some depth and provide quality options for Unai Emery on the roster.

First of all, with the unknown nature of what Martínez will do following the international break, Villa did well to secure someone who can be trusted as the club's number one in Marco Bizot. The Dutchman has a lot of experience as a starter and has shown good ability early, particularly against Newcastle United.

Looking at the Aston Villa summer additions

Villa have more center-back depth in a Premier League veteran. Victor Lindelöf arrives from United and will be able to spell Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, or Tyrone Mings depending on what the given situation calls for.

The attack receives a needed boost in Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott. Plus, youngster Evann Guessand is someone who has shown his early potential. For an aspect that has not quite clicked as of yet, either of the newcomers could easily end up proving to be able to provide a pivotal difference for Villa.

For the most part, Villa brought in options who already have first-team experience. Emery having further options who are veterans should shorten the adjustment period and provide some needed competition on the training grounds for a side that is looking to revitalize itself already in the season.
