As should be now obvious with the latest news regarding PSR, Aston Villa now have the ability to operate with more or less a clean slate. They will still need to find a way to lessen the wage amount. With the end of the loan deals of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, though, and the eventual termination of Philippe Coutinho set to take place in short order, the needed amount by which the player salary number needs to go down becomes that much more manageable.

In effect, Villa truly have the license to operate as they please, without too much concern for the SCR or PSR aspects in mind.

Despite the constant reports suggesting and then outright saying otherwise, the finances of the club are in good order when it comes to these particular regulations.

A lot of moves have already happened prior to the FIFA Club World Cup. This gives fewer options than what would typically still be available. In all likelihood, however, Unai Emery and Monchi will have thought of what to aim for in all instances. If there is anyone that can still get a positive deal done, it will be those at Villa at the moment.

Even if this transfer window is more lackluster compared to others, that is alright as well. Villa already have some promising youngsters joining the fold soon.

Hugely positive development for Aston Villa

The bigger win in that scenario would be the fact that this Villa squad gets to remain as is, with the corps and key players intact. Being able to enter a campaign with a similar look and not needing to start over from scratch is helpful in its own right.

It can be more fun to have a massive signing and several smaller ones of known senior-level players. For the team concept, it is better to have a similar cast and be able to build upon any progress that has already been made. For Villa, that would have to be viewed as a huge win as well.
