Coming to Aston Villa will not be for everyone. Firstly, it is known and well-established that the road is significantly less paved for the club compared to others on equal footing. A little more grit and perseverance is required to achieve the same result. To put it bluntly, some are not willing to go that needed extra step and would prefer a cushier setting for the career.
Then, there is the Villa boss himself, Unai Emery. While players may at times express their frustrations or viewpoints, everyone knows who ultimately runs the show. There is not an individual who will be in a position to even consider making a demand at Emery.
Different clubs will have an alternative approach from this aspect especially. At other places, it can easily become something of a question if it is the staff or squad members who truly run things around the grounds.
Self-entitlement and believing that one is bigger than the club may work at other teams. It won't at Villa with Emery.
With that in mind, any time someone new is introduced to the squad, there is something of an inherent gamble. Depending on the player, the new scene can end up having vastly differing outcomes. From the system to the inner camaraderie to how the relationship with the manager ends up being, there are factors that cannot begin to be fully known until someone actually steps foot in B6.
Positive result for Aston Villa
Despite some of the disadvantages and the fact that there are players who will willingly choose to avoid the challenge that coming to Villa would bring, there will be a limit on who the club can hope to attract. What this also means is those who are targeted and end up joining the squad are people that the likes of Emery and Monchi have a good feel for, and the player is someone who will be more than willing to embrace the obstacles of being in the claret and blue.
To this point, there has not been much of any activity. Even if there aren't any additional signings, it is better for Villa anyway that they bring in someone who is going to join for the right reasons. That is something that can be said of those currently on the roster.
