It is well past the point, really, at which any transfer rumors that include Aston Villa players need to first actually come to fruition before they can be believed. Among a number of media speculations that involved current Villa players, Morgan Rogers was set to practically have his bags packed and already en route to either Arsenal or Chelsea.
Nothing has come of those wild shots in the dark, but they were stated, and social media was flooded with such posts. It appears now that any possible avenue for a move to occur for the England international to either of those landing spots has been all but eliminated for the summer of 2025.
On Saturday, Fabrizio Romano reported that talks are continuing to progress and look promising for Noni Madueke to leave Chelsea and join Arsenal.
It has to be mentioned that at the time of that post on X, there was not yet anything official or set in place. There is a general, credible belief, however, that the Gunners will be able to secure a deal for their forward target.
From Arsenal's perspective, it would not make sense to now also add Rogers. Even as a 'big six' side, there are real limitations that a club can hope to manage during any single transfer window.
Add the financial restrictions and the fact that the Gunners already had Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Leandro Trossard, and it wouldn't matter where Mikel Arteta would line him up; it is already pretty crowded in that dressing room.
Transfer pieces falling into place for current Aston Villa players
Chelsea would now, in theory, have opened up a spot for Rogers to join. Considering their latest signings of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and João Pedro with their latest UEFA fines, it is highly improbable for them to now also add the cost of acquiring Rogers to that calculation.
The public at large had their fun dreaming up scenarios in which Villa players would depart B6 for their favorite clubs. Reality has since crashed down on those wishful thoughts, and the summer picture for Villa is becoming increasingly clearer. Rogers, among several other names who have been in the headlines, is going to remain at Villa.
