There was a need for Aston Villa to find a replacement for Robin Olsen. After years at the club, the number two ended up returning to his native country of Sweden and will be playing for Malmö FF moving forward. While Emiliano Martínez is still securely in B6, the Argentina international can't be asked to be standing between the posts for each match.

It is now known that Marco Bizot will be the keeper for Villa's opening Premier League match against Newcastle United, as the Dutch keeper is expected to finalize a move to the EPL shortly, according to The Athletic's Jacob Tanswell.

Bizot was among the top goalkeepers in the French league in terms of clean sheets. His shot-stopping and reflexes certainly impress and stand out.

For Villa, the signing is a move that was required following the departure of Olsen. In terms of making the most out of something that most would have ideally wished to avoid, this is about as good of a contingency plan as there is. Having a reliable second option is absolutely critical for each club.

Important area of need filled for Aston Villa

Being able to turn to someone in the event of the starting option not being able to step foot on the pitch, for whatever reason, without fearing something catastrophic happening is something that all sides strive for. With the 34-year-old's experience, there will be an inherent degree of comfort in the event of Martínez's not being part of the starting XI.

Case in point, 'Dibu' will be forced to miss the first match of the campaign due to a red card against Manchester United. Now Villa and supporters of the claret and blue can continue to have a certain degree of confidence knowing that Bizot will be the one stepping in to fill the void that was, up until this point, still unfilled.
