It may end up being a footnote, but Marco Asensio's time at Aston Villa will always be appreciated. While in B6, the Spaniard played a key part in what was a special season. With him, the side found reason to believe that the club can truly achieve great heights as they went head-to-head and often came out on the winning end of some matchups against top-quality clubs.

His stay at Villa came at a pivotal time in the Spain international's career. The parent club, PSG, had unofficially moved on, turning to the younger corps that would eventually go on to win Champions League while impressing in dominant fashion against the rest of Europe.

Asensio gave Villa a lift at a critical point in the season and ultimately helped Unai Emery's men qualify for Europe again. A true professional, the midfielder kept his head down and remained ready, even when he wasn't part of the starting XI for the given match in question.

Although there was some hope of Asensio potentially being able to return to Villa for the upcoming season, the Spaniard's path forward will continue in Türkiye. As shared by 433 on X, Asensio will join Fenerbahçe with an agreement reached between the two clubs. Personal terms are still being negotiated, but that appears to be a hurdle that will soon be overcome regarding the midfielder's immediate future.

Life after Aston Villa for Asensio

Going from Emery to José Mourinho is certainly an interesting proposition. The duo will now aim to tackle life in the Süper Lig together. As was seen when playing for Villa, Fenerbahçe are getting someone who is willing to fill any role asked of him by the manager.

For some Villa fans, although they would have enjoyed Asensio remaining in the claret and blue, there will be at least some attention that now will remain on Fenerbahçe for the upcoming season, while hoping for the best for Asensio at his new club.
