It is widely believed that Aston Villa will move on from Emiliano Buendía. This would, of course, be a move to help the club comply with the financial regulations. Particularly with SCR, it is a necessity for Villa to operate basically at a net-zero balance when it comes to incoming and outgoing wages.
That is to say that the club has to ensure that any signed players are matched with departing players to ensure that the deficit remains around neutral as part of the agreement with UEFA.
The Athletic's Jacob Tanswell reports that VFB Stuttgart made an offer for Buendía. Based on the X post, the Bundesliga side wanted to arrange a loan move with an option to buy. Villa has, however, rejected this proposal.
During the preseason Buendía looked as if he could end up playing a heavy role in the attack. Granted, to this point it is somewhat difficult to sing anyone's praises too much in the advanced areas of the pitch. That is to say that it would be too premature to judge Buendía based on two matches in which the Villa attack has been largely pedestrian anyway.
Still, many believe that the writing is on the wall. Especially if Villa end up bringing Marco Asensio back or reuniting Nicolas Jackson with Unai Emery, Buendía would likely be the first person on his way out of B6.
Possible scenarios for Aston Villa
As should be evident, though, anything can happen on the business side of the sport. While Emery has made it known that he would like to remain aggressive during the closing stages of the transfer period, other clubs may end up deciding that they do not wish to conduct business, which would see Villa needing to carry on with those already on the roster.
That would not be a terrible scenario by any stretch. Early on, for example, it appeared that Buendía's most recent loan spell reinvigorated the attacking midfielder. If he does stay, he should be given a chance and a clean slate to prove his worth at Villa.
