Seemingly every day the media would open their day with an update of how dire the Aston Villa PSR situation would be. Countless posts and journalists would then go on to insist how much of a certainty it would be that the club would absolutely need to sell off multiple players in order to conform to the guidelines.

Being charitable, those claims were always going a step too far in terms of how dire the situation actually was and is for Villa. It is certainly an aspect that warrants attention, and it is a very real part of modern operations that can't be taken lightly. This is particularly true for those who aren't part of the 'big six.'

It was, however, never the case that Villa was going to be in a position to have to sell off multiple starting-caliber players at a discount rate in order to comply.

As shared by Aston Villa Updates on X, a TalkSport panel discussed the latest of Villa's situation as the June 30 deadline approaches. During the clip, they mentioned the desire of Villa to explore the so-called 'Chelsea route,' meaning looking for ways within the club, including the Aston Villa Women's side or a piece of property that belongs to Villa, and aiming to raise revenue in that manner.

What this should show is that the gap between facing a penalty and being mostly fine for this season is more than manageable.

Club operations at Aston Villa are in a good place

To be that close to being in compliance without the fear or feeling the need to sell a player shows how overall well-managed the entire situation has been from a Villa perspective.

In the end someone may yet end up leaving the club. If that happens, it is not due to the pressures of PSR, but it will have more to do with the overall direction and fit that the club decides to go in afterward. Monchi and Unai Emery do have things under control, at least far better than what has been claimed for months to this point.
