The longtime AC Milan player and Netherlands international Ruud Gullit paid attention to when Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa via loan spell. Unlike some on social media, the former player accurately recognizes how fruitful Rashford's time in B6 was for the club and the player's career.
Transfer News Live shared a post on X in which Gullit was speaking more on the situation of Manchester United as a whole. The overall point stands, though. Rashford has fallen out of favor before, and the switch to Ruben Amorim does not make it look at all likely that this aspect will change for the England international.
Instead, it took the guidance and care of Unai Emery to get the best out of Rashford. Now playing in La Liga with Barcelona, it remains to be seen if he can recapture the form that was witnessed of him during the Premier League this past season. It is unquestioned, however, that the spell at Villa did Rashford a tremendous amount of good.
Pushing back against Aston Villa narrative
Yet, there are some who, for some odd reason, continue to insist that Rashford did not play well. These are the same voices who tend to only blindly look at stats and expect that to tell the entire picture. Although four goals and five assists across all competitions is actually pretty decent, more importantly, his form and level of play simply looked miles better than what they had at United for quite sometime.
One could tell that Rashford was genuinely enjoying his time on the pitch again.
Hopefully for Rashford, he will be able to rediscover the same joy and form at Barca. Villa fans in the meantime will fondly remember what Rashford brought to the side while he was with the club. It is good to see voices like those of Gullit speaking up about how he fared while under Emery.
