Jhon Duran is determined to secure a transfer to West Ham United after struggling for playing time with Aston Villa. Despite scoring five goals last season, Duran has found opportunities limited and is keen to avoid being priced out of a move as Villa stands firm on their £40 million valuation.

West Ham United is seriously considering a fresh bid for Duran, aiming to find a middle ground with Aston Villa. Their previous offer of £35 million, including a 10% sell-on clause, was rejected. The Hammers' manager, Julen Lopetegui, is eager to bolster his attacking options and sees Duran as an ideal addition to compete with Michail Antonio.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently confirmed that West Ham is still monitoring the situation, and a deal remains a possibility. Duran's desire for more playing time, coupled with his limited opportunities at Villa Park, makes a transfer increasingly likely.

Duran, who has four years left on his £30,000-per-week contract at Aston Villa, is eager for a new challenge ahead of the 2024/25 season. With Ollie Watkins established as Villa's first-choice striker under head coach Unai Emery, Duran has found it difficult to secure a regular starting spot.

The prospect of more game time at West Ham, alongside the chance to compete with Antonio, makes the move an attractive option for the young Colombian. Chelsea has also shown interest in Duran, but no club has yet matched Villa's asking price.

Aston Villa is under no immediate pressure to lower their £40 million valuation of Duran, given his long-term contract. However, if the striker does leave, Villa may not need to search for a replacement.

Cameron Archer's natural finishing ability could save Villa millions in the transfer market. Archer, who recently scored against Spartak Trnava, could step up to provide depth behind Watkins. During a loan spell at Middlesbrough in the 2022/23 season, he impressed by scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in 20 Championship appearances.

As the transfer window deadline approaches, Duran's future remains uncertain. His determination to secure a move, combined with West Ham's persistent interest, suggests a transfer could be on the cards.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, will need to decide whether to stand firm on their valuation or accept a compromise to facilitate Duran's exit. The clock is ticking, and all eyes are on Aston Villa and West Ham to see if a deal can be struck.
