Aston Villa are gearing up for a bold move in the summer transfer window, targeting Inter Milan's highly-rated Dutch right-back/wing-back Denzel Dumfries according to Caught Offside.

The 27-year-old has impressed Villa manager Unai Emery, who is determined to strengthen his squad for the upcoming campaign.

Since joining Inter Milan from PSV in 2021, Dumfries has consistently delivered outstanding performances. His displays have not only secured his position in Inter's starting eleven but have also made him an integral part of the Netherlands national team, earning an impressive 52 senior international caps.

Despite Inter's strong desire to keep Dumfries at the San Siro, the Italian giants are preparing for an approach from Aston Villa in the near future. The Villans are reportedly ready to test Inter's resolve with a bid surpassing €30 million (£26 million) for the Dutch star.

Dumfries' attacking contributions have been a standout feature of his game, directly involved in 30 goals across 127 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan.

His performances have attracted attention from top clubs, with Chelsea previously showing interest in the Dutchman, emphasising his emergence as one of Europe's most exciting attacking defenders.

However, Aston Villa's pursuit of Dumfries may face challenges. The club's final Premier League standing and summer budget could significantly influence their ability to secure the defender's signature.

Moreover, Dumfries remains uncertain about his future and may harbour aspirations to play for a team consistently vying for titles and participating in the Champions League.

Inter Milan are eager to prolong Dumfries' contract, which is due to expire in 2025. The club has proposed a salary increase to around €4 million (£3.5 million) per year, matching teammate Federico Dimarco's wages. However, Dumfries turned down an initial offer of €5 million (£4.3 million) annually, leaving the door ajar for potential suitors.

The Dutch international's attacking qualities and experience at the highest level could be invaluable to Unai Emery's team as they aim to build on their progress and potentially compete for a Champions League spot in the coming seasons.

The pursuit of Dumfries is a clear indication of Aston Villa's ambition and desire to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League. The club's supporters will be hoping that the management can successfully navigate the transfer market and bring in the necessary reinforcements to help the team reach new heights.

The Dutch defender's attacking prowess, coupled with his international experience, could prove to be a game-changer for the Villans. As the transfer window unfolds, all eyes will be on Villa Park to see if they can secure the signature of one of Europe's most sought-after right-backs.
