Aston Villa star man gutted by team's inability to secure win at Ipswich

Aston Villa and Ipswich Town played out a pulsating 2-2 draw at Portman Road. The result left both teams sharing the points in a game that featured controversial decisions and missed opportunities.

Watkins gutted by Villa's performance

Ollie Watkins, who continued his impressive form with his fourth goal in three matches, expressed disappointment with the result. Watkins told Sky Sports,

"It was a difficult game, and I think a point is a fair result. We didn't get it right in the final third; we could have been more ruthless, myself included. A point is a fair result, but disappointing because there were a lot of opportunities for us. They kept putting pressure on us, they're here at home, the made runs in behind and we grinded the result out in the end."

Villa's inability to hold onto their lead for the third consecutive weekend will be a concern for Emery. Jacob Ramsey missed a chance to restore Villa's lead after Delap's equaliser, while Ross Barkley's long-range effort tested Ipswich goalkeeper Muric late in the game.

The draw continues Villa's trend of fighting back from losing positions but also highlights areas needing improvement. While Watkins' form remains a bright spot, the team's defensive fragility could prove costly in upcoming fixtures.
