Aston Villa's next opponents Luton Town were beaten 6-2 at home by Manchester City in the FA Cup last night.
The Hatters have been dumped out of the competition in the fifth round.
City striker Erling Haaland scored five goals for Pep Guardiola's side at Kenilworth Road, whilst midfielder Mateo Kovacic got their other one. Jordan Clark scored a brace for the hosts.
Luton's focus is now solely on Premier League survival as they prepare to take on Aston Villa this weekend. They are currently in the relegation zone along with Burnley and Sheffield United, both of who they were promoted from the Championship alongside last year.
Rob Edwards' side are four points from safety behind 17th position Nottingham Forest with a game in hand. They lost 4-1 away at Liverpool in their last league outing and are winless in their last five matches in all competitions.
Unai Emery's men beat the Bedfordshire outfit 3-1 at Villa Park earlier in this campaign in October. John McGinn and Mossa Diaby were on the scoresheet, whilst Tom Lockyer scored an own goal.
Speaking after their heavy defeat to City, Luton boss Edwards said, as per a report by Luton Today: “I hope it doesn’t have a negative effect. I’m always going to come out and try and back the team and try and be bullish, say what I think are the right things, but then time will tell now how we react and knowing this group the way I do, I think they’ll react in the right way."
