Aston Villa are being linked with a swoop for Borussia Dortmund attacker Giovanni Reyna, as per a report by Football Transfers.

Unai Emery's side could see the 21-year-old as a potential long-term attacking option.

Reyna, who is a USA international with 24 caps under his belt so far in his career, has been on the books at Dortmund since 2019.

He has made 119 appearances for the Bundesliga giants over the past four-and-a-half seasons and has found the net on 17 occasions. Prior to his move to Germany, he rose up through the ranks at New York City before switching to Europe as a teenager.

Reyna hasn't been able to find his best form this term and hasn't scored in 12 matches. However, that hasn't stopped Aston Villa from reportedly considering a swoop to lure him over to England.

Football Transfers claim the Midlands outfit aren't the only club in the frame for his services though and there could be strong competition for his services with the likes of Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Marseille, Sevilla and Real Socieded all mentioned as other suitors.

Aston Villa are back in action next Friday with an FA Cup clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
