Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of promising right-back Kosta Nedeljkovia from Red Star Belgrade, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

Unai Emery's side are poised to bring in the youngster in a transfer worth in the region of £8million and he is expected to stay where he is until the end of the season before heading to Villa Park in the summer.

Nedeljkovia, 18, has been on the books of his current club for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for them at various youth levels before breaking into their first-team last year following a loan spell away at Grafičar Beograd to get some experience.

The Serbia youth international has made 12 league appearances for Red Star so far this term and will be able to get more minutes under his belt with them over the coming months assuming Aston Villa can get the deal over the line.

He could be seen as long-term competition for Matty Cash on the right flank of defence. The teenager has plenty of time on his side and could prove to be a big player for the Midlands outfit down the line.

Aston Villa brought in five new faces in the summer and have had a quiet January window so far. They have until the end of the month to conclude any final bits of business before the end of season run-in.

Emery's men are back in action on Friday 26th January with an FA Cup away trip to Chelsea.
