Aston Villa and Liverpool are locked in a fierce battle to secure the signature of Juventus' rising star, Dean Huijsen. The 19-year-old defender has caught the eye of both Premier League clubs following an impressive loan spell at Roma last season.

Huijsen's towering 6'5" frame and versatility have made him a prime target for Aston Villa as they look to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of their Champions League campaign. Despite limited starts in Serie A, the young Dutchman managed to score two goals and maintain an impressive 88% pass completion rate, showcasing his immense potential.

What sets Huijsen apart is his ability to play both centrally and wide, thanks to his two-footed prowess. His physicality, strength, and speed make him a unique defensive asset, drawing comparisons to Villa's standout defender Ezri Konsa. Konsa's impressive stats from last season, including a 92% pass completion rate and a 76% duel win rate, set the bar high for Huijsen to aspire to.

During his loan spell at Roma, Huijsen made 14 appearances and found the back of the net twice. His adaptability was on full display as he seamlessly transitioned between various positions, from centre-back to right-wing-back and even defensive midfield. A standout moment came when he scored against Frosinone, driving his team forward from deep and showcasing his attacking prowess.

Juventus have slapped around £20-25 million price tag on their young prodigy, reflecting his immense potential. Aston Villa, having already made seven signings this summer, are keen to beat their rivals to the punch and secure Huijsen's signature. The club views him as a key piece in their defensive puzzle as they gear up for the challenges of the Champions League.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are also in the market for defensive reinforcements following the departure of Joel Matip. The Reds see Huijsen as a long-term investment, recognising his potential to develop into a key player for years to come. With his Juventus contract running until June 2028, securing his services would be a shrewd move for either Premier League club.

Huijsen's impressive performance at youth level further highlights his potential. He found the net an astonishing 18 times in 71 appearances for Juventus' age-group sides, showcasing his goal-scoring ability from the back.

Huijsen's blend of physicality, versatility, and technical skill make him a valuable asset for any top-tier team. For Villa, his addition could be the final piece in their defensive puzzle as they prepare for a challenging season ahead in the Champions League.
