5 strikers Aston Villa should target this summer to compete with Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa could do with some strong competition up front for Ollie Watkins next season.

Unai Emery's side are currently pushing for the Champions League and would benefit from some more attacking depth.

Here is a look at five strikers who they should target this summer...

1. Viktor Gyökeres: The former Coventry City man has been prolific for Sporting Lisbon in this campaign, scoring 30 goals in 33 games in all competitions, and would be ideal for Aston Villa. However, there is likely to be plenty of competition for his signature in the next transfer window.

2. Maximilian Beier: He has caught the eye in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim over recent times. The 21-year-old has 10 goals to his name this season and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

3. Jonas Wind: The 25-year-old, who is a Denmark international with 25 caps to his name, has found the net on 10 occasions for Wolfsburg. Prior to his switch to Germany, he rose up through the ranks at FC Copenhagen.

4. Dusan Vlahovic: The forward would be an eye-catching addition for Aston Villa if they were able to lure him to the Midlands. He joined his current club Juventus back in 2022 from Fiorentina but his future is up in the air right now.

5. Artem Dovbyk: Girona will face a battle to keep hold of him down the line. His goals have helped them compete at the top end of La Liga over recent times against the odds.
