Aston Villa simply need some things to go their way. To this point, basically anything that could be working against the club has done so. Yet, ahead of the Saturday Everton match, some more positive developments can give varying degrees of optimism regarding the status of the club moving forward.
According to Birmingham Live's John Townley, Matty Cash and Emiliano Martínez will be available against the Toffees. Unai Emery has also shared that Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana, and Andrés Garcia are close to returning for the side as well.
In terms of the midfield, Villa have attempted to make up for the lack of the usual midfield depth. The injuries to Onana and Kamara have made it so that Emery has not been able to deploy his usual tactics or personnel decisions of choice.
Hearing, though, that Kamara and Onana are close to being able to join the side in full capacity again is highly encouraging news. Garcia has yet to play for Villa this season. The fullback appears to be also close to at least making the matchday squad, providing coverage out wide on the backline.

Cash, however, appears like he will be able to continue in his usual starting role despite picking up an injury concern while playing for Poland. The right back was subbed off against Finland. At the time, there was the potential of his missing some time due to this incident that occurred during the international break. Instead, things appear to be good enough for Cash to not have that continue to be an immediate concern for the defender.
Finally, the update of Martínez speaks more to the aspects of the keeper's transfer saga that nearly saw him join Manchester United. Emery has dispelled any notion of the keeper continuing to be in a bad place with the club. Instead, it looks like Villa is nearly at full strength.
