The wait is so nearly over for Aston Villa supporters. While the preseason friendlies have given something for everyone to discuss and have been insightful on some levels, the duration from when fans have been able to watch actual Premier League action has been plenty long enough.
There are still a couple more preseason fixtures to get through. First, Villa will finish up the U.S. tour with a game against Nashville SC on Saturday, August 2.
AS Roma, Marseille, and Villarreal will be the last of the friendlies before the games of significance begin.
Villa supporters have August 16 at Villa Park circled, in what will be a highly anticipated season opener for Unai Emery's men. Going then to Brentford the next week to then host the second of three matches when Crystal Palace come to B6 makes it so that fans will be able to watch Villa defend the fortress early for this season's campaign.
Looking for next Aston Villa adjustments from boss
Unai Emery has not been shy about trying different things and rotating players during the preseason. How Villa have been lined up and how they will look against Newcastle will be two different looks. Still, especially when looking at the sluggish start from the opening preseason matches, people will be hoping to see Villa finish on something of at least a slightly higher note against the remaining opponents before the EPL action begins.
Regardless of how many points the games count for, Villa fans will be able to watch plenty of matches in the claret and blue. Through the long summer and ridiculous rumors, this month will feature Villa a lot, and that in itself is something that many are eagerly looking forward to, even if the stress levels and reactions result in a significantly higher heart rate.
