The wait is over for those who have been monitoring the Aston Villa Women's summer activity. Every year will see players leave who leave the club that the supporters would have thoroughly enjoyed continuing to watch play in B6. With that, though, comes the chance to watch someone else enter the side and make an impression through their play.

Lynn Wilms will be joining Villa, as the now-former VFL Wolfsburg defender is set to join Natalia Arroyo for the upcoming campaign. The latest Villa addition brings an incredible amount of experience with her. For club, Wilms has spent the past few seasons in the Frauen-Bundesliga and will likely not face too much difficulty in now adjusting to the WSL.

Her career has also featured significant playing time in the Champions League. While that is still a goal for Villa, it shows the type of ambition that the club has to add a 24-year-old with this type of resume as they aim to make it into Europe themselves.

While Euro 2025 is going on, Villa fans have enjoyed watching Chasity Grant perform for the Netherlands. Wilms is an Oranje squad member herself. The upcoming England match that is set to take place on July 9 becomes that much more intriguing for Villa supporters. It could very well provide a fresh, early glimpse of the claret and blue newcomer.

Potential options for Wilms with Aston Villa Women

Last season Arroyo used a three-back system with two outside wing-backs. The formation offers versatility and the chance for players to potentially move around the formation depending on the team needs and the player's skill set.

Wilms is a right back. As was seen last season with Maz Pacheco on the left, Arroyo will feel confident in putting one of the more natural defenders on the outside rather than only leaving them as, in this case, a right center-back.

Considering Wilms' comfort level on the ball and ability to get forward and pick out perfect passes and crosses, this could very likely end up being what the Villa boss goes for if the same system carries over for the 2025-2026 campaign.

Regardless of where Wilms ends up lining up, Villa are receiving an excellent player who has already accomplished a lot in her career. She will now look to achieve even greater heights in B6.
