It is becoming more universally acknowledged that Marcus Rashford did indeed enjoy a successful loan spell while at Aston Villa. History could potentially repeat itself.
Kobbie Mainoo, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, desires to remain with Manchester United, but he would like to be loaned out for the current campaign. The post stated that the main desire of the midfielder is to have regular minutes on the pitch. Currently, Mainoo appears to have an increasingly dim future under Ruben Amorim. The future of the Portuguese manager remains a question in itself.
Most likely, Mainoo will have his preferred targets for the season. It is doubtful that Villa would immediately come to mind for the England international. If taking an objective look, however, his joining Unai Emery in B6 would arguably be the single best move for the midfielder's career.
Rashford was not initially seen as an option during the mid-season transfer window at first. Yet, Rashford's time at Villa proved to be extremely helpful for the attacker's career. When looking at how players are doing once they leave United and then comparing to how players who have been cast out by their clubs are able to perform under Emery, Villa realistically SHOULD be an option that Mainoo considers.
Potential for Mainoo to join Aston Villa on loan
Players talk and pay attention to events across Europe. Particularly because Mainoo wishes for United to remain his parent club, it is possible that he will have seen how Rashford's trajectory improved at Villa and would now consider that for himself.
Some will point to SCR and Mainoo's wages as something that could prevent an agreement from being reached. Villa have had a summer of selling. They should be more than fine on that end to add a couple of players to the squad even if they do have high wage totals.
