Among all of the ridiculous claims and reports that have been made regarding Aston Villa players, this latest one may be the silliest yet. It is reasonable enough for any club to want to add John McGinn. The Scotland international offers a ferocious mindset and provides a pivotal leadership aspect to Villa.
To then see that a side among the likes of Everton made a lowly offer of £18m for the Villa midfielder shows how the players in the claret and blue continue to be viewed. Despite the financial aspects being under control, many continue to act as if Villa is an estate about to go up for sale that needs to get rid of anything and everything on the grounds at a highly reduced rate.
When looking at the price tag of many less-proven players throughout Europe, it is unquestionably a slight against the effort and skill levels of the Villa players who continue to see their names in reports for significantly less value than what they should be garnering on the open market.
Easy choice made even easier for Aston Villa
This does, however, play into the hands of Villa. To have clubs offer such low amounts for the Villa players makes it easy for the club to reject these types of nonsense proposals. With the goal being to keep the current roster as intact as possible, the way in which other clubs continue to treat the Villa players in the transfer market, it will be increasingly easier for Monchi and Unai Emery to keep the Villans in B6.
For someone like McGinn, especially, who means so much to the club, not needing to take any offers seriously is likely to make it all that much easier that the Scottish midfielder will be able to stay at Villa for a long time to come.
