When looking at how the summer started with all of the rumors and speculations for Aston Villa, it is incredible that the goalkeeping position is actually that of tremendous strength now. Robin Olsen did well in his time at Aston Villa. He has earned a well-deserved departure to Malmö FF, where he can play and likely finish out his career in his native Sweden.

Now, looking at Villa, having Emiliano Martínez and Marco Bizot at Unai Emery's disposal is something of a luxury. Unquestionably, 'Dibu' is still the No. 1 option. Considering how willing PSG are to let go of Gianluigi Donnarumma, it is safe to say that the Argentina international's status as the world's number one is far from in jeopardy.

Watching the early preseason action, Bizot is quite good himself. Showing a good command of what Emery is trying to establish in terms of building from the back and distributing the ball, Bizot has impressed early on.

What this now allows for is the lack of the need for Martínez to have to play each match. While 'Dibu' is likely to want to understandably be on the pitch as much as possible, he will also know the benefit of not needing to prepare and face 90 minutes of action twice within one week for the duration of the campaign.

Important position in safe hands at Aston Villa

Regardless of that aspect, every side needs a quality backup option in the event of quite literally anything possible happening. Safe to say, Villa have secured themselves that in Bizot. The Dutchman is someone who could be a starter at most clubs. His being in B6, therefore, gives Villa an added level of security at the keeper position.

From the sky falling to now having two fantastic GK options, Villa have done well this summer to secure this critical area of need on the pitch.
