People are beginning to fully recognize how good the Aston Villa players are. After a series of disappointing performances, albeit while still winning, England put on an impressive display in a 5-0 win over Serbia.

The direct goal-scoring contributions of Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa certainly stood out. It has to also be noted that although Ollie Watkins did not have a lengthy run of play against Serbia, the Villa forward showed to all what he is capable of when given the opportunity.

Overall, it was a good showing from the Villans.

The performance from England, overall, contrasted from the one that was witnessed against Andorra. Although Serbia was largely viewed as a more significant challenge and greater squad, the Three Lions looked noticeably better than what they had during the first match of the most recent international break.

It needs to be pointed out that the inclusion of the Villans in the squad provided a significant boost. To be fair, however, England was due for a better performance. It is certainly possible that Thomas Tuchel's side would have stepped up regardless of who took the pitch against Serbia.

Delving too much more into the hypothetical does not matter too much, though. It was, after all, Konsa and Rogers who started against Serbia, and it was they who provided a significant spark for England.

More Aston Villa player time needed on pitch

Tuchel will certainly have a lot of difficult decisions ahead. Some players, whether for England or any other national team, tend to receive the nod based more on reputation than on current ability.

In any event, Rogers and Konsa are making an excellent case for themselves. Watkins, too, is someone whose attitude and short stint are showing what happens when the Villa players are playing for England.
