Emotion after last home game simply shows love of Aston Villa from Emiliano Martínez

It is reasonable enough. A lot of the business aspects at Aston Villa, like any other club, often occur behind closed doors and in advance of the details actually being disclosed to the public. By the time official news actually breaks, most are well aware of what has already been decided.

Many took the tears to mean Emiliano Martínez taking in his final moments at Villa Park, at least as a member of the club. There were reasons enough to believe this. With PSR and the need to sell off players, as well as the links between Villa and other keeping options, it appeared that the writing was on the wall.

Since the win over Tottenham Hotspur, the Athletic's Jacob Tanswell has come out, as well as other publications, insisting that there are not currently any offers for the Villa No. 1. For the time being, it appears that the links to the Saudi League or Manchester United have been overblown.

Certainly it makes sense from the perspective of these options or any other club to at least inquire about the availability and potential asking price of Martínez. The Argentina international could well have played his last at Villa Park.

There is not anything tangible to point to at this moment, and an agreement is far from in place for the time being.

Actual meaning from Martínez's tears following Aston Villa win

Instead, the tears and emotion of the season appear to have simply caught up with Martínez after the victory over Spurs. This, as much as his heroics between the posts, should further demonstrate why he is beloved at Villa.

For someone who often takes on the main focus from the opposing fan bases as the one to direct their hatred toward, it was a case of Martínez showing his vulnerability.

His allowing for the Villan supporters to see how much the club means to him will forever be remembered, regardless of what happens. Until someone like Tanswell provides evidence of an actual move for the keeper, who is under contract until 2029, he will remain Villa's number one.
