Early preseason should show why Aston Villa do not need to sign more players

Following the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery spoke on the difficulty of the first set of preseason matches. The Villa boss specifically mentioned how it had been important to get everyone back into the fold, as many regular starters were delayed in their return from the summer.

As Villa fans have seen during the first matches of the summer, it is far from a finished product. This is why the insistence of many, hoping to see a big-time signing, could actually end up doing more harm than good. There is, of course, the chance of the club bringing on someone still at this stage in order to potentially boost the side. The winter transfer window could always end up being a busy one if the club feels the need for it to be so. Villa have shown a willingness to be active at this part of the year before.

It always takes something of an adjustment period in order for any signing to become comfortable or for his teammates to learn the player's tendencies and preferences.

Particularly with a potential two-striker system, many Villa supporters are hoping to see the club sign someone else to be an option up top, at least as a backup player for Emery to be able to turn to.

Why the situation is playing out fine for Aston Villa

In the event the right deal does not present itself and Villa enter the campaign as is, that is entirely ok. The full squad, among those who are healthy, is back and is beginning to click together again.

Particularly with SCR, it is better for Villa to move ahead as is, continuing to build on what has already been worked on and developed at the club. That may not come as wanted news among Villa supporters. 'Fear of missing out' can be a real aspect to deal with as a fan. This was, largely, the plan by Emery and Monchi from the way in which they approach transfer windows. Now is the time to see if this more unique strategy pays off.
