There is a lot of potential maneuvering that appears ready to take place throughout Europe in terms of the goalkeeper position. While many had expressed the inevitable move of Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa to Manchester United, it is the Argentina international, in fact, who is staying put.

Recall back to all of the rumors and assumed pieces that declared that 'Dibu' would be linking up with Ruben Amorim and filling a clear void in the Portuguese man's squad.

Instead, it is Martínez staying put, and some other significant moves elsewhere appear likely to come, particularly after the news of André Onana's injury.

What this should speak to more than anything else is that there is often a willingness to enter into fairytale land during the summer months. Dream scenarios that would potentially see one maneuver made to help boost a side of choice are willingly made in the minds of many, without the thought of what the other club may want or what would be in it from their perspective.

This stems from viewing other clubs, of course, as being lesser and not at the same level as those who have been crowned into the 'big six.'

Continued mentality regarding Aston Villa's place

There are, of course, some inherent advantages that certain clubs will have over others. This is the reality. The extent to which any and all differences can have an effect, particularly in the transfer market, does not mean that a club from the 'big six' can simply do whatever it pleases, expecting Villa and others to unquestioningly accept any and all fate that comes their way.

The summer has been quite frustrating for Villa fans, constantly seeing Villans in the headlines for highly speculative and irresponsible reasons. Rest assured, this will be a pattern that continues unfortunately.
