There may be players among Aston Villa supporters that at this point have varying degrees of approval. Those criticizing the Villans will have their reasons and aren't likely to have their minds changed anytime soon. It has to be recognized among all of the demands of the club to move on from whichever individual. By all accounts, it looks as if Monchi and Unai Emery have achieved their aim in being able to keep the same side mostly intact.
What this more speaks to is the excitement of the unknown. A different possibility or option provides a fresh feel for something. This becomes particularly true over the course of an entire campaign.
Of course, fans will hope for someone to leave, be overjoyed with the newcomer, and then be quick to turn on them as well.
It is extremely difficult to play at the highest levels. Certainly it is always possible for a different body to be able to come in and make a difference. There are also instances where the mix isn't right or when someone's time is simply up at a club. For the most part, however, transfers and departures end up being something of a zero-sum game.
This is to say that the player leaving is a professional and will typically do what they need to do in order to prepare for a match. The same will be true of the eventual replacement. It is fairly rare for someone to come in and be a noticeable uptick in terms of performance.
There are names that would fly in the face of this latest statement. It has to also be acknowledged, though, that it is rare for such players to even be available in the first place.
Better for Aston Villa to maintain squad as much as possible
Next time when watching a match and being perplexed as to why someone isn't being moved on from, think of who would possibly be able to come in and do better, and then ask if the introduction of someone else, reducing chemistry, is worth the risk of someone else taking their place.
Being able to stick together and endure another season together is far more valuable than if Villa were to make a move on the edges. The current Villa roster is likely who will play for the club this upcoming season. Constantly being negative over a specific individual overlooks a lot of factors. Yes, everyone always wants to play and do better. Far easier said than done.
