Complaints against how Aston Villa worked around PSR are unfounded

To the shock of many who blindly believed all of the Aston Villa gossip, the club managed to get around the immediate PSR concerns. This was achieved, of course, through the selling of the women's team. A percentage was sold to investors, while most of the sale went to V Sports, a company that is also owned by Nassef Sawiris.

This has naturally led to many bemoaning the fact that Villa have 'cheated' in order to find a way to not be forced to comply with the guidelines. These claims stem from some sense of injustice and the viewpoint of the club sneakily finding a way to avoid whatever justice would come next from this financial process.

Never mind that Chelsea were the ones who initiated this type of maneuver for similar reasons. Acting as if it were Villa who are above the law is completely nonsensical.

It has now been established through unbiased, third-party resources that more often than not, Villa are the ones who are on the receiving end of missed officiating decisions against them. The same degree of latitude that was granted for Tottenham Hotspur during the date change of the Europa League final. It also needs to be noted how all of the other clubs find ways to not be bothered by PSR in the way the rules were set up to begin with anyway.

Actual implications of PSR on Aston Villa

In short, PSR is an artificial tool that is being used, in theory, to curb reckless spending. The way in which it is implemented and how others have also circumvented the regulations is something that Villa are only now doing after selling top players earlier.

To all the fan bases complaining about Villa using the women's team as a way to avoid PSR trouble, Villa has already sold Douglas Luiz and Jhon Durán when they otherwise would not have. There is not too much of a comparison between Villa and any other club when it comes to this aspect. Instead, these are the criticisms of those who would like to see Villa continue to give away their regular starters.
