There appears to be a continued belief that Aston Villa will be unable to keep Ollie Watkins. Many are working from the premise that the forward will move on to either Newcastle United or Manchester United.

Benjamin Šeško, however, appears to be firmly on his way to United, as Fabrizio Romano shared on X that the Slovenian is ready to join Ruben Amorim's side. This would make it so that, in theory at least, Watkins is unable to now join Man Utd as well.

There is still the chance of Man Utd finding a way to sign someone else. They have, after all, shown that PSR and the financial restraints that affect everyone else do not affect them.

Future at Aston Villa secured for Watkins

Considering how quickly the season is starting, any further big moves are more or less running out of time to occur. When it comes to Šeško, his eventual official signing makes it so that there is one less potential landing spot if Watkins were to leave Villa.

It also needs to be considered that Watkins was never really in danger of leaving B6.

What this should once again show is how unrealistic the multitude of reports and rumors were of the Villa players leaving the club. There will, of course, be the chance of anyone leaving at any point. Especially moving forward, it would be unreasonable to expect the side to be able to maintain the same players on the roster to the same extent that has been witnessed as of late. The way, however, in which it has been predicted that Villa players like Watkins would leave the club has been grossly exaggerated. Now, with the campaign only a couple of weeks away, it should be clear to all that the England international is going to remain a Villan.
