There will be a lot of rumors surrounding the club operations of Aston Villa this summer. Until the matches begin again, there does not appear to be too much else for people to speculate over, looking to find every reason to speak ill and downplay what Unai Emery and this staff are continually progressing toward.
When it comes to potential transfer activity, naturally most in the media have every player looking for a way out of B6. In terms of bringing talent in, not too many serious discussions are had about realistic options that can actually help Villa for the upcoming campaign.
One aspect that can now be put entirely to rest now is that of Loïc Badé. While the defender was reportedly close to joining earlier this year, the continued push to bring the Frenchman from Sevilla appears to be no more.
According to Birmingham Live's John Townley, Villa will cease to pursue Badé as a potential transfer target. Instead, they will now shift their focus to other players and keep building on what is already present at the club.
Among the number of rumors, Badé was someone that many had heavily linked to Villa. If he does end up leaving the La Liga side, it will now be elsewhere.
Looking at the current backline situation for Aston Villa
Certainly, Emery and Monchi are always on the lookout for ways to improve the squad. At the center-back role, however, there are already good options in Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Pau Torres, and Yasin Özcan will be joining the club as well. It is not exactly an area of need to also bring in a 25-year-old at that position.
What this could end up confirming is the desire of Villa to find a way to bring Axel Disasi back. It has been reported that his time at Chelsea is up and that the Blues will be looking to move on from the defender. That is something more realistic for Villa fans to continue to monitor.
