For Aston Villa supporters, the few signings that have taken place are exciting. It makes it all that much more frustrating to see the younger prospects signed out on loan away from the club.
According to The Athletic's Jacob Tanswell, Zépiqueno Redmond is about to join Huddersfield Town on loan. This comes after Yasin Özcan has already been sent to Anderlecht in the Jupiler Pro League.
It may take away from the joy of following the club. Increasingly, club activity is more about being a part-time accountant or data sheet analyst rather than looking at the tactical approach or appreciating the skills on display on the pitch.
Redmond is an exciting attacking option that supporters were looking forward to watching. Especially with the latest string of injuries, because of how Villa will have to shift players around, there appeared to be an increasing chance to have the youngster have a significant role in a Premier League match.
Future away from Aston Villa
Now he will join the League One side. This does afford Redmond the opportunity to see more playing time or to at least have a more consistent and steady place as a member of the first team.
Still only 19, it was always going to be difficult for Redmond to crack the rotation. Barring injuries to Donyell Malen, Ollie Watkins, and Emiliano Buendía, there would not be an immediate path for the Dutchman to see the pitch. This move will better help the attacker with his development. Even so, to see a player spend so little time at Villa only to be sent away with a strong possibility of never playing for Villa is something that is necessary for the club to navigate the financial rules, but it does not make it less frustrating for supporters who would like to see the signings become something for the side.
