Of all of the issues surrounding Aston Villa and PSR, it appears that the extent to which it will affect the club has (predictably) been vastly overstated. It is certainly a real aspect that the club has to deal with. In terms of the rumors suggesting that every player is apparently for sale at a low value, many of the 'reports' are completely overblowing the severity of the current situation.
Certainly, there is too much of a collective willingness to see Ollie Watkins depart Villa. There are steps that will be needed for AVFC to undertake. Taking any offer for the club's most successful goal-scoring striker is not an option that will be entertained, though.
A legitimately good offer would, of course, be accepted. Villa would not simply part ways with Watkins for something that isn't a more than valid amount for what the striker is worth.
Finding a suitable number nine is incredibly difficult. Arsenal are the ones in need of someone up top, and Liverpool are looking for a good option to support their attack. The onus needs to be on them to make an offer that would warrant AVFC to even consider accepting Watkins leaving B6 for one of those sides.
Why keeping Watkins is a must for Aston Villa
From Villa's perspective, it would be incredibly difficult to find someone who is able to replace the production that Watkins consistently gives the club. To be willing to enter a negotiation for someone like him or Youri Tielemans can have a starting point. No one at the club is untouchable from potentially being moved on. If someone like one of those two were to be shipped out, however, it would need to begin at a healthy high number.
Of course others are trying to purge Villa. In this new era, where AVFC is closer to being in the 'big six' than not, the way the club operates and potential moves need to act like it. And how the upcoming summer activities are discussed needs to also reflect a club that is achieving heights.
