Ordinarily it is something of a great honour to be selected as a finalist for an award. In the case of Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, though, it will be silly to see anyone other than him win the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year award.

Perhaps that can serve as something of a precursor for when the Villa midfielder is eventually snubbed. In any event, when looking at the past seasons of those on the list objectively, there should not be too much of a discussion.

Rogers has made the final six, along with Liam Delap, Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Ethan Nwaneri.

To be frank, the year that Rogers has just completed stands out to the point where adding 'for a young player' or 'for a youngster' is no longer needed and feels out of place when discussing his play. An argument can be made that this is also true for others on this list. It is more true for Rogers.

The Villa midfielder is proving to be one of the better options in the attack in the entirety of the Premier League. His ability to create and cause issues for the opposition backline is impressive, and as could be seen recently during the England international games, at times, he can be the most likely player on the pitch to make something happen in the final third.

Keeping perspective for Aston Villa

While his losing out would not be the end of the world, it would be a disappointment from the standpoint of Rogers' deservingness of the recognition. Either way,  he is not only one of the bright spots for Villa's future but is heavily involved for Villa now as Unai Emery's side prepares for the upcoming challenge of the 2025-2026 campaign.

Fortunately, Villa supporters and anyone looking at the situation with a clear lens will know who the winner of the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year should be.
