When it comes to the Premier League handing out a sanction for Manchester City delaying start times, that fine has seemingly not had any barrier or obstacle toward being levied. What rightfully upsets Aston Villa supporters is the fact that the infractions from years ago are still being discussed and decided on.
Anyone analyzing the situation objectively knows that if the proverbial shoe were on the foot of Villa, they would not be afforded the same amount of leeway and understanding. As is, many are already acting as if the club is under some form of sanctions as is, before June 30 has even passed.
While the wage proportion is high compared to others, the overall situation is still manageable enough for something to be done about it by the end of the month to still be complying with PSR regulations.
That fact does not prevent others, however, from talking about the affairs of Villa as if they are so hampered that there will soon be a relegation fight to contend with. In any event, the latest only further shows the inherent bias that Villa are constantly fighting against.
The rules, in theory, apply equally to all. That would consequently also have to mean that punishment for breaches would also be something that is expected in a similar fashion across the board.
Push continues for Aston Villa
It is known that this is truly not the case whatsoever. There is a so-called 'big six' for a reason. Events and updates like what supporters witnessed regarding City are why many are correct to point out the significantly more challenging obstacles that are placed in the way of clubs like Villa on purpose.
Without too much reason to believe that this specific aspect will change any time soon, how Unai Emery and Monchi navigate these next couple of months will have a tremendous impact on the club. It is manageable enough, though, where Villa should be able to approach the new campaign on a strong footing despite all of the forces working against the operations of the club.
