Officiating is something that will never be fixed. Even with the introduction of VAR, the controversies never end, and there is rarely an instance where all parties are satisfied anyway. Even so, when a mistake is made, one would think that approximately half of the decisions would go for a side and about half would go against.

Instead, as shared by Football Talk on X, a report of the past season showed that Aston Villa had the most calls go against them. Every Villa supporter, of course, already knew this to be the case. It must be added that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, according to the post, did not have any calls go against them.

Naturally, all fan bases will claim that the officiating is horrendously against them. The difference among Villa fans is that they are forced to watch blatant errors go against them on a repeated basis. It is this level of frustration that has many legitimately bemoaning how the referees handle Villa matches.

What is 'nice,' so to speak, is to see a neutral, objective media outlet give a synopsis of what just transpired, showing what Villa fans knew all along.

Continued uphill battle for Aston Villa

Whether it chooses to be acknowledged or not, that is part of the inherent bias against Villa. Although it must be said, Crystal Palace were also mentioned as a side that was not on the receiving end of a poor error. The fact that there is such a gap only speaks to what Villa is forced to overcome every year compared to others.

The way in which these mistakes directly result in lost points cannot be overstated. It is known that this is going to be the case. That is what will make it that much sweeter when Villa does emerge on the other end of PSR, poor officiating, and constant media bias against the club.
