There are certain former Aston Villa players that would be welcome back in an instant from supporters. Under the varying circumstances, their departure from Villa came for many supporters too soon. Even if it meant the player not quite being at the same level as they once were, watching them compete in the Claret and Blue again would bring some happiness among fans for what has otherwise been an emotionally draining summer to this point.
Ashley Young gave a question or a slight poke of fun, depending on how one views it, this past Saturday. The Villa social media page had earlier in the month shown a picture of Young working out, explaining that four years ago he had returned for his second spell at the club. Young then asked the simple question if one more could potentially be in store through his social media. While it is highly unlikely that anything serious would come of something like this, it should illustrate a larger point.
All supporters truly care about is being able to watch someone give it their all on the pitch. Yes, losses can be frustrating, particularly when simply one mistake ends up costing a side a result. An aspect that will always matter even beyond that is looking competitive during the match itself and playing for the badge. With the increased influence of other outside forces that do not have to do with the game itself, that mystique and genuine joy are no longer as prevalent.
Strong support would be given from Aston Villa supporters
When someone like Young comes around, it is instantly noticeable how much they value being able to be on the squad for the club and do what is asked within their role to help the team aim for success. That is something that is noticed and rewarded by supporters as a whole.
Any number of possibilities can unfold this summer. The potential reintroduction of Young, though unlikely, for a third time would be something that would instantly generate excitement, and whose appearance supporters would instantly look forward to at Villa Park.
