Considering all of the rumors that involved Aston Villa players so far this summer, there is reasonable room to enter into what would be a fantasy scenario.
Fabrizio Romano shared on X that Alexander Isak told Newcastle United of his wish to not play for his current club moving forward. The Sweden international has now made his intention clear to play for someone else. When looking at all of the money that has already been spent and the likely lack of available landing spots at this point in the year, Villa would actually be one of the options available.
Due to their earlier SCR agreement, any player who is brought in would need to also be matched, in terms of wages, with an outgoing player or, more likely, players.
If the end result, however, would be the introduction of Isak to B6, then leave it to Unai Emery and Monchi to find a way to make that happen.
How it could look at Aston Villa
For this to take place, many would believe that an Isak addition would have to mean also letting go of Ollie Watkins. This is not the case. Emery has expressed his desire before to play in a 4-4-2. Having Watkins and Isak up top would be enough to comfortably feel good against every Premier League backline. They would form a formidable attacking duo.
While the fit on the pitch would work out great for Villa, at the moment, there is not a credibly sourced link for the Swedish striker. Considering when this is taking place and the history of Isak at the club, it is safe to assume that he has a target club in mind. To this point, it would be difficult to necessarily predict where Isak ends up. There is a realistic, outside shot, though, of his joining Villa.
