It is known and well-established as to why Douglas Luiz left Aston Villa in the first place. In all likelihood, if all parties had to do things over again, and if there weren't the factor of PSR, then the Brazilian would have stayed in B6.
That is not, however, how things transpired. Luiz spent this latest part of his career at Juventus. Now, it appears that the midfielder is looking to force his way out of the Serie A side. It has already been established that Juventus and Luiz are looking to move on from each other. Presumably, a deal has not been reached to the club's liking, considering he is still officially on the roster.
Fabrizio Romano shared earlier on X that Luiz did not show up to Juventus' pre-season training. With all clubs with their full squads back and fully into their season preparations, this would be a move that signifies his desire to force the issue with his current club. When a player does not show up for such club activities, it also points to a breakdown in communication and a clear intention of the player to no longer wish to remedy the relationship.
Looking for a return to Aston Villa
What this could end up allowing is for Villa to bring Luiz back. It is known how much love that the Brazilian has for Villa. For many, a return to B6 would give the player the chance to properly close the chapter in his career on something that ended far too soon.
As of now, Luiz remains a Juventus player. There is an increasingly difficult path forward for his staying in Serie A. The result could end up being his wearing of the claret and blue again, something that would excite Villa fans before the season begins.
