There is a lot of concern surrounding Aston Villa at the moment. The side has not exactly looked great two matches into the Premier League season, and the transfer window has seen the other teams bolstering their squads while Villa have sent more players out than anything else.
It has to be remembered, though, that Unai Emery is still in charge. When evaluating managers, it is often important to look beyond the results. A win or loss can come from any set of circumstances throughout 90 minutes on the pitch.
Sometimes a side will lose when they were in decent control of the match. Other times, a team will win on a day when they were realistically less deserving of the positive result. What matters is the type of work ethic that is established by the boss. The manager's consistent approach is what allows a team to go through any difficult stretches.
The rest of the Premier League has the luxury of not needing to comply with the same financial restrictions as Villa. Because of how the rules are set up, those in the 'big six' are able to operate in a way in which Villa is simply not able to keep pace with.
Aston Villa boss deserves credit
Everyone else has done well to add to their squad. For Emery, though, his willingness to stick around while continuing to set ambitious goals for the club is what will separate him, and why any thought of moving on from the Spaniard is wholly incomplete and short-sighted. The way in which Emery goes about his business makes it so that he will always get the most out of any side compared to anyone else in a similar position. Others receive a lot of credit, but it has to be conceded that they have a ton of talent acquisition at their disposal that ultimately leads to success.
Emery can achieve results regardless of the hand that Villa is dealt.
