Rising star Cameron Archer was the difference in Aston Villa’s 1-0 preseason victory over Brisbane Roar on Thursday.
Villa, who had toppled Leeds United on July 17, secured their second 1-0 win in as many contests and will wrap the Australia leg of their preseason tour against Manchester United on Saturday.
On Thursday, Archer finished off a nicely-worked combination in the final third, furthering his case to remain in the Villa squad this season.
All three of Villa’s prominent youth academy stars featured in the goal: Tim Iroegbunam played a ball wide to Kaine Kesler Hayden, who swept the ball into the box from the right flank, and after taking a touch off of veteran Ollie Watkins, found Archer in front of goal.
