Aston Villa are keen on bringing in Chelsea ace Callum Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window on a loan transfer.

Aston Villa are looking for a squad overhaul in the January transfer window in order to boost their chances of gaining promotion into the Premier League. The Clarets and Blues made a statement in front of their own fans after thumping Birmingham City by a 4-2 margin in the Second City Derby on Sunday.

As a result, Aston Villa are sketching out their transfer plans and will approach Chelsea with hopes of loaning in young forward Callum Hudson-Odoi. The 18 year old was on the Villa Park outlet’s radar in the summer transfer window, but they settled for different options and Maurizio Sarri kept him at the Stamford Bridge.

After a fabulous pre-season with the Chelsea first team, it was expected that Hudson-Odoi would feature often if not regularly under the former Napoli boss, but that has not been the case and his appearances have been limited to only two, both coming as a substitute in the UEFA Europa League.

The Clarets are hoping that they will be able to take advantage of the situation and provide a developmental platform to the player and be at a benefit themselves. Derby County and West Bromwich Albion are also looking at the forward’s situation, but it is expected that Aston Villa have the upper hand in the transfer mainly because assistance coach John Terry’s relationship with the Chelsea board.

The Blues are expected to let go of their priced asset on loan given that Christian Pulisic’s potential arrival could further derail his progress, but they may tie him down to a new contract before any of that happens. Callum has only 18 months left on his contract from January.
